Duffey Southeast was recently selected by a Fortune 100 company to complete a new modular datacenter project at an existing telecommunications site in central Florida. Comprised of sections, or “pods”, the modular datacenter approach is advantageous to some owners who want to lessen the duration of onsite construction activities, reduce the cost of conventional building construction, and receive a product that could potentially be relocated to an alternate location in the future.

The Toyota Material Handling South Fulton location is a state-of-the-art facility designed and built to merge several existing facilities to provide the company with streamlined processes and fiscally responsible methods of operation. Many project and supply chain obstacles were overcome during this project which required the determination, knowledge, and skill of both our field and office operations teams. Through communication, strategic planning and the use of Lean principles, the project delivery was a success, satisfying the needs and goals of our repeat client.
Putting Their Skills to the Test
In the Electrical challenge of the AGC Skills Challenge, students were given blueprints of electrical wiring and how to install boxes and locate wires. They started at the panel and wired to switches, GFI’s and light fixtures. They were watched by judges the entire time while also receiving tips and tricks from them. The students were judged on use of tools, safety, assembly according to plans, national electrical code, locations of items, functional test, and percent complete.
The Need to Think ‘Outside of the Box’ for Workforce Development
Partnering together, Duffey Southeast and The Associated General Contractors of Georgia hosted construction students from 14-area high schools for the Northwest Georgia Workforce Development Alliance Skills Challenge. The event competitions were held Nov. 1, at the Polk County College and Career Academy, in our hometown of Cedartown, Georgia. The event was one of seven regional event competitions held throughout the state.

Before We Pour, We Start with Engineering
Read about our approach in designing for antenna foundations at a Satellite Antenna Testing Facility. The main infrastructure for this Satellite Antenna Testing Facility encompassed two satellite foundations comprised of heavy steel and concrete infrastructure. The other main component of the functionality of this site was the medium voltage electrical package delivered to the new test pads.
